WHO WE ARE

Te Puāwai Tapu is a ‘cloud-based’ Māori health promotion organisation specialising in kaupapa Māori sexuality education for rangatahi Māori and whānau.

Our services are free, and you can contact us at our website address. 

For the next 12 months in 2011/12 we will be working with teachers, rangatahi and whānau at two Māori-medium schools to develop kaupapa Māori sexuality education programmes and resources for teachers to teach. 

Underpinned by Māori values and the latest Māori research, our sexuality education programmes and resources will be freely available from our website by 2013.

We also provide advisory services and information to assist other organisations to strengthen their sexual and reproductive health services for Māori. We are doing lots of thinking and talking about distinctly Māori understandings of sexual and reproductive health, or ‘Mauri Whakapapa’, a term we are starting to use in our work.
